5'8" x 3'9" Turkish Kilim

Our traditional kilims are pileless flat woven textiles most commonly produced in Turkey and Central Asia, utilizing 100% wool and vegetable dyes. Browsing through Asran's catalog you'll notice some repeating motifs. These are created by the weavers based on traditional symbols.

 

This piece is decorated with numerous motifs. In the center is the star which symbolizes happiness and fertility. Surrounding the star are hooks which is another Anatolian motif used against the evil eye. Placed in the very center is the motif of marriage and harmony and the two-headed arrows symbolizing unity of lovers and continuity of family union.
